Physical Properties

White monoclinic crystalline powder or   fine crystals, odorless, salty taste; density 2.20 g/cm³; thermal stability:   decomposes from 50℃, fully decomposes at 270℃ into sodium carbonate, CO₂ and water; soluble in water (8.6g/100mL at 10℃, 9.6g/100mL at 20℃), solution slightly   alkaline; insoluble in ethanol.

Food Industry: Leavening agent (bread, cakes, biscuits), acidity regulator   (beverages, dairy), baking powder component, meat tenderizer, fruit/vegetable   color protector.   Detergent Industry: Additive in laundry powder and cleaners for stain   removal and improved cleaning.   Pharmaceuticals: Antacid (neutralizes stomach acid), pharmaceutical   excipient, effervescent tablet component.   Feed Additive: Regulates rumen pH for ruminants, improves feed intake   and digestion.   Environmental Protection: Dry/wet flue gas desulfurization (SO₂ neutralization), acidic wastewater treatment.   Fire Protection: Component of dry powder fire extinguishers.   Others: Rubber blowing agent, leather neutralizing agent, textile   assistant, industrial cleaner, swimming pool pH regulator, household cleaning   (deodorizing, stain removal).
